Work in progress

So I found some things today at work and decided to try them at home. It's a bad picture. I don't know how many times I've crawled up there trying to fix that greenery (it still doesn't look right) and I think I took the picture too close because you can only see half of the plate. You can see it perfectly from the front door and living room which is all that matters, right? :) The cabinets go all the way down the wall, and will have some more greenery and a white sign that says "HOME." So yeah, it's a work in progress for sure.

Home sweet home

Tuesday we moved out of Shane's parents'...and back into our old apartment! That's right, the exact same one we lived in before. Pretty cool, I think. Here's Shane letting us in for the first time in six months:



It's small but cozy. Having lived here before, I'm aware of the limited cabinet space, which I pretty much filled with all our wedding gifts (we finally opened them!!). I invested in a 5-tier shelving unit for food. Originally, it was supposed to fit in our laundry room since we decided to live without a washer/dryer...BUT the ground was too unlevel. I guess it'll just stay where it is until my step-dad fixes our kitchen table. Then it will probably go back into the laundry room, where we'll either fix the shelves so they're straight or just stick a phone book or something under one of the legs:

We're getting a black end table to go between those couches, and possibly a new lamp:

And the most beautiful decoration of all...EMPTY BOXES! :)

The move went great. We had a lot of help from both sides of the family and at the end of the day on Wednesday we tried to show our appreciation by hosting a pizza party at Peter Piper Pizza! It was fun to get everyone together and hang out and EAT! Now it's my goal to get everything put away and organized by the end of the week. The clothes and shoes are pretty much the only things left, but I'm kind of stuck because I can't get the shoe rack I bought to stay together! I got it today while Shane was at work so maybe he can try when he gets home. I hope it works, though, because I can't stand just throwing my shoes in the bottom of the closet and having to dig for a pair every day.

Fun Day

Shane and I are getting ready to watch the second Indiana Jones movie but I wanted to write in here really quick because I haven't in a long time, even though I think Melanie is the only one who reads this anymore. :)

So today was a long and exciting day. We picked up my mom and took her to Chile's for lunch. It was fun to hang out with her. The oil in Shane's car was being changed while we ate. After that, we went back to the house for a while to play video games and relax because it was too hot to be outside. We went to our storage unit later in the evening and went through boxes and threw a lot of stuff away, and took a bunch of things to Goodwill. We both felt better knowing that when we moved back into our apartment we wouldn't be taking a ton of stuff we didn't need. After Goodwill, we got some Subway, then rented some movies and ate ice cream.

Speaking of the apartment, we plan to move back this Saturday. We have new couches and we have a black coffee table picked out (from Poppy's, of course) and Dave said he would paint our bookcase black to match. Poppy's decided to give me that broken table, which my step-dad can also fix. It's the perfect size for our kitchen. Now all we need is an end table and some decorations! Pretty exciting stuff.
